Learning Objectives:
Describe the gap between the reading difficulty of health materials and patient/consumer reading interests and abilities
Identify the organization, writing, and design characteristics of effective plain language materials, print or web-based
Practice using a validated readability formula and interpreting results
Practice with a quick tool for planning printed materials
Practice patient-friendly (plain language) writing techniques
Choose one action step to follow up after the workshop
